After raising four daughters and with retirement quickly approaching, my wife and I sought the tranquility of a lakefront property and together we built our home on Little Mink Lake in Fernleigh, Ontario, Canada.
I had worked in concrete for 30 years and discovered concrete did not have to be hard and cold, it had a much softer side, a medium that could be shaped and moulded to create useful but unique items for the home.
My first design, an oversized coffee table, depicting two loons at the water’s edge created quite a stir amongst our friends and family. With their encouragement, I opened my studio.
Using what nature provides, combined with images of wildlife, birds and landscapes, my designs capture nature in concrete. All of my table bases are made from live edge cedar adding to the natural look of each piece. By putting concrete on the pedestal, you can add art to your home or cottage in a truly functional manner.
In January of 2014, Sherry also retired and we are now working side by side at our studio.
